Arrival & Attendance
Students should arrive no later than one hour before the ceremony begins.
- For the Spring 2017 Ceremony: Student check-in begins at 3:30 p.m. at the Pavilion of the Lied Center (NE Entry).
Doors will open at 5:00 pm. Guests should be seated 15 minutes before the ceremony begins. No tickets are required for guests to attend the School of Architecture, Design & Planning recognition ceremony.
Wheelchair-accessible seating is available in the Orchestra Left first row.
Attire & Announcements
All graduates who are attending the Recognition Ceremony are requested to don full regalia. Caps and gowns (light purple colored tassels for undergraduates, black tassels for Masters, or gold or black tassels for Doctorates), hoods (light purple for Architecture), honors cords, rings, and announcements can be found at: KU Bookstore, 785-864-4640.
Diplomas will be made available at the KU Visitor Center or it can be mailed for a fee starting in late July for Spring graduates, early October for summer graduates and early March for Fall graduates. Contact the Registrar's Office at 785-864-4422 with questions.
No formal printed invitations will be mailed. Students who have applied for graduation will receive an email from Events Coordinator Whitney Juneau regarding the School ceremony.
Parking is free in the lots that surround the Lied Center.
GradImages is the official vendor that has been hired to take photographs at recognition events on the Lawrence campus on Commencement weekend. Any questions regarding graduation photos can be directed to GradImage's Customer Service Department at (800) 261-2576, online at www.gradimages.com, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The program will last 1 hour and 30 minutes. There is another event following the School of Architecture, Design & Planning Recognition ceremony. Graduates will process out of the auditorium and family and friends can meet them in the parking lot. Although we will be committed to being time conscious, we encourage families to give themselves plenty of time when making dinner reservations.
