Message to students regarding coronavirus efforts

Dear KU Architecture & Design Students,

Due to coronavirus concerns, KU has cancelled all in-person academic courses for Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 20. Online courses will continue as scheduled. Starting Monday, March 23, all classes will be held online until further notice.

We understand this sudden alteration to your academic lives is jarring. The studio aspect of a design education presents specific challenges to transitioning to a remote learning environment (especially such a rapid transition). That said, there are existing models to draw upon and an existing infrastructure at KU that will be utilized by faculty and instructional staff where applicable. There are still many unknowns about how this will all work, but know that School faculty and staff will be working to make this transition as successful as possible.

In the coming days, watch for communications from your instructors about how courses will proceed. As well, monitor social media and email for communications from the School and the University. With the number of unknowns, it is understandable to feel frustrated at the lack of available information. Just know, School faculty and staff will do our best to pass along all pertinent information as it becomes available.

When planning for the coming days and weeks ahead, please remember that your number one priority should be the health of you, your family, and community.
