Biography

Christina Santner is a photographic and mixed media artist, who specializes in alternative, analog, and historical processes. She graduated from Hendrix College with a BA in Visual Arts, emphasizing Printmaking, Photography, and Creative Writing. Following her degree, she studied at the University of Arkansas as a Post-Baccalaureate in the Photography Department. She has also studied Experimental Camera Construction and Wet Plate Collodion at the Penland School of Craft. Christina’s work explores the ways in which memory, impermanence, and history intersect - and how these are embodied in photography. Translating photographs into objects is an essential element of her practice, as she employs a variety of mediums and techniques to establish a physical relationship between her body and material. An avid collector - she regularly employs found archival photographs, textiles, and other oddities and materials in her process. Her work has been shown across the country in a variety of group shows and online publications.
