Interior Architecture Accreditation


The Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture program at KU is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary, professional education that prepares graduates to be leaders in the interior architecture and design professions. Through career-focused instruction in a collaborative studio environment, students learn to create innovative, equitable, and meaningful interior environments that support the human condition and improve the ecological health of the planet. Research-driven, evidence-based, and human-centered design processes are reinforced by learning experiences that reflect the present and future practice.  

The Interior Architecture program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation, https://www.cida.org, 225 Michigan St NW, Unit 1034, Grand Rapids, MI, 49501. 

The CIDA-accredited program prepares students for entry-level interior design practice, for advanced study, and to apply for membership in professional interior design organizations. The B.S. in Interior Architecture granted by the University of Kansas meets the educational requirement for eligibility to sit for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification Examination (NCIDQ Exam). The Interior Architecture program is also accredited by NASAD (National Association of Schools of Art & Design) , as part of the institutional NASAD accreditation granted to the University of Kansas since 1968. 

In addition to completing the course work for the B.S. in Interior Architecture degree, Interior Architecture students consistent academic performance may also complete the requirements a Master of Architecture (Track II) degree.
