AIAS

The KU Chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students is dedicated to providing students with opportunities to explore the field of architecture and experience ways in which their chosen field can lead to a successful and fulfilling career. We engage students in collaborative efforts that help further their education, develop their career paths, form productive friendships, and improve our community.

ASID

The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) chapter at KU offers opportunities for ArcD students to learn more about their field and connect with the people around them. They plan things like educational events, fundraisers, and social events. They are in the Missouri West/Kansas chapter, and becoming a student member and being involved looks great on a resume! For information on how to become an ASID member, updates on events they host, or to get in touch with them, check out their Instagram.

Black Creatives Collective

KU Black Creatives Collective is a group of Black creatives and artists who hope to serve as a safe space for each other to network, share ideas and build community. Artists and creatives of all kinds are welcome.

IIDA

International Interior Design Association KU chapter provides an environment for the mutual development and exchange of knowledge within ArcD among design students, educators, and professionals. Participation in IIDA student events and competitions will build your resume and help secure additional recognition that will help a student stand out among peers.

Illustration Club

The purpose of the KU Illustration Club is to create a welcoming environment that encourages curiosity, determination, and creative problem-solving. This club will provide students with resources that expand their education in the School of Design and create relationships with local Lawrence businesses. These resources will include visits to museums to study contemporary and historical artwork, professional studio visits, attending national illustration and animation conferences, portfolio review and development, and fostering uplifting interpersonal relationships with peers that carry on into professional careers.

NOMAS

NOMAS is a student chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA). Its mission is to champion diversity within the design professions by promoting the excellence, community engagement, and professional development of its members. It aims to foster communications and fellowship among minority architecture students and fight discrimination that hinders academic and professional progression. NOMAS aims to be the advocates for change, inclusivity and multiculturalism within architectural education and the design profession.

Prototype

The goal of Prototype is to get KU Design students involved in the local design community, create a community of their own and help them build leadership skills that will be valuable as they move into the professional world.

WIT ASK

Alpha Sigma Kappa, Women in Technical Studies is a STEM based social sorority, dedicated to academically and professionally encouraging women in generally male-dominated fields of study. This group values academic achievement and service at KU and in the community. They have a weekly chapter and various social events and ceremonies throughout the academic year. They are a group of women who support each other and have fun along the way. ASK is not panhellenic, but it still has many of the same aspects as big name sororities on campus.

Women in Design

The mission in Women in Design is to empower women in the field of design by connecting them with mentors and resources, ensuring their success as they transition from educational institutions to their professional careers. WiD provides opportunities for networking, skill-building, and career development through various events such as firm tours, construction site visits, game nights, and lecture series. WiD fosters a supportive community that encourages its members to thrive and succeed in the competitive design industry. The organization’s efforts are aimed at ensuring women have the tools and resources they need to excel and make lasting contributions to the field.

KIOSK Magazine

KIOSK is an award winning, semi-annual publication featuring the University of Kansas's premiere student art and literature. It is managed, designed, and published by students and is available free of cost to members of the KU community.
