Last week, the US Department of Energy announced the teams chosen to move on from the Solar Decathlon Design Challenge to the Build Challenge.

Of the over 30 teams from universities around the world in the competition, our Dirt Works Studio was one of 14 teams to receive full Approval to Proceed and $50,000 in prize funding.

After months of research, planning, and hands-on inquiry in Arc/D’s East Hills Design-Build Center, students are now working to turn drawings, renderings, and models into a home that will support Kansas families.

Now on view in the Forum Commons in Marvin Hall, see models of KU’s entry to the Solar Decathlon. And follow Dirt Works Studio on Instagram to watch students create a beautiful, energy efficient home in Kansas City, KS in partnership with KC-based non-profit The Good Work.

The Forum Commons is on the second floor of Marvin Hall.
