Announcing KU Architecture & Design Alumni Award winners


LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas School of Architecture & Design has announced the recipients of the 2023 KU Architecture & Design Alumni Awards.

Established in 2017, the KU Architecture & Design Alumni Awards recognize graduates of the architecture and design departments at KU who have demonstrated leadership and made a significant contribution to the design professions.

 Awards are given in four categories: Lifetime Achievement, Distinguished Alumni, Young Architect/Designer, and this year the Distinguished Service Award has been named in honor of former school dean John Gaunt.

 2023 alumni award winners were honored at a reception held at the Lied Center of Kansas on KU’s campus on October 17.

 Lifetime Achievement Awards:

James L. Hewlett, architecture; Arnold Lerner, architecture; Ron Turner, architecture; Julie Wellner, architecture.

 Distinguished Alumni Awards:

Diamond Bronson, architecture;  Jordan Jacobson, design; Stephen Johnson, design; Basil Sherman II, architecture; Tristan Telander, design; Alan Tipp, design; Eric Zabilka, architecture.

Young Architect/Designer Award

Caroline Fiss, design.

John Gaunt Distinguished Service Award

Alyssa Jones, design.
