Advanced energy efficiency and community impact work hand in hand in Dirt Works Studio's entry to the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon Build Challenge.

The KU School of Architecture & Design is excited to recognize our Class of 2022 graduates. Join us for a series of events on Friday, May 13 to celebrate this remarkable group of undergraduate and graduate designers, architects, interior architects, researchers and scholars.

Designed and built by KU Studio 804 students to the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Platinum standards, the home is located on an infill lot in a walkable neighborhood near public transportation, parks, the Kansas River, and the cultural vibrancy of downtown Lawrence. 

Mahbub Rashid has been named dean of the School of Architecture & Design at the University of Kansas. Highly regarded for innovation as a researcher, scholar and educator, Rashid has served as interim dean of the School since 2019.

The US Department of Energy announced teams chosen to advance to the Solar Decathlon Build Challenge. KU's Dirt Works Studio was one of 14 design-build teams from around the world to receive full Approval to Proceed and $50,000 in prize funding.
