Advertising professional organization awards scholarships to KU design students

LAWRENCE — Four University of Kansas School of Architecture & Design students in the Visual Communication Design program have been awarded 2022 American Advertising Federation of Kansas City (AAF-KC) Foundation Scholarships.

Students receiving scholarships are Isaac De La Rosa, Round Rock, Texas; Tim Do, Wichita; Abigail Miles, Olathe; and Ethan Schreiber, Shawnee.

According to the AAF-KC website, the foundation “awards annual scholarships to college students who show a passion in advertising, marketing and graphic arts studies.” During the 2022-23 academic year, each student will receive $750 per semester, a professional mentor in the student’s chosen area of business, free membership in AAF-KC and free admission to most AAF-KC events.

Additionally, Miles and Schreiber were each awarded a Dale Wittenborn Memorial Scholarship, which recognizes the top design students in the Kansas City area. Wittenborn, who died in 2017, was a leading advertising executive and mentor to young professionals. Whitney Kuhn, Wittenborn’s longtime business partner at Kuhn & Wittenborn Advertising, established the scholarship to honor Wittenborn’s professional and personal contributions to the Kansas City advertising community.
