Learn how to support KU in the 2023 Solar Decathlon

A team of students in Chad Kraus’s Dirt Works Studio has advanced to the build phase of the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2023 Solar Decathlon Build Challenge. This marks the first time the University of Kansas will be represented in this prominent international competition. Among hopefuls from colleges and universities around the world, KU was one of just twenty teams selected to compete.

The KU Solar Decathlon project, called Haven Studio, will be a wholly student designed and built interactive learning environment that will benefit KU students and the local community for years to come. Located adjacent to the School of Architecture & Design’s East Hills Design-Build Center in Lawrence, Haven Studio will be a working case study for learning about environmental systems in a residential application.

Dirt Works Studio students have launched a campaign through KU Endowment’s LaunchKU crowdfunding platform to help fund the project. Learn more about Haven Studio and how you can support KU in next year’s Solar Decathlon:  LaunchKU: Haven Studio

Campaign ends October 28, 2022.
