Hugo Sheward promoted to associate professor of architecture

LAWRENCE – Architecture professor Hugo Sheward is among individuals at the University of Kansas approved for promotion and award of tenure by Chancellor Douglas A. Girod.

Sheward is a professional architect whose research concentrates in the development of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies. With a particular interest in the development of design performance evaluation tools for the early stages of design, Sheward’s current work focuses on the development of automated ventilation performance estimation for laboratory design.

At Georgia Institute of Technology, he worked on the development of design tools and software specification for the United States General Services Administration and for the implementation of BIM tools for the purpose of laboratory design.

Girod issued a joint statement on the accomplishment of these faculty members with Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Barbara Bichelmeyer, who chairs the University Committee on Promotion and Tenure on the Lawrence campus, and Dr. Robert Simari, executive vice chancellor at KU Medical Center.

“Congratulations to an exceptional group of faculty and researchers who have reached the next milestone in their careers. Our faculty conduct innovative research, deliver comprehensive research and outstanding educational experiences, and take part in professional, service and clinical activities required of their fields. Their dedication to the success of students and this university has contributed to our mission of educating leaders, building healthy communities and making discoveries that change the world.

“Our thanks go to the University Committees on Promotion and Tenure on both campuses who gave their time and effort to evaluating the many eligible candidates. Please join us in recognizing and celebrating these educators who devote their talents and energy to uphold KU’s ideals through research, teaching and service.”

Promotion and tenure are effective at the start of the fall semester.
