Biography

Barry T. Ballinger is a doctoral candidate of architecture and a lecturer at the University of Kansas. He conducted his fieldwork in Ankara, Turkey as Fulbright Student Researcher in 2018. He has a decade of wide-ranging design experience on diverse projects including hospitals, hotels, and educational facilities and has worked in several states in the USA including California, Colorado, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas. His research focuses on culture and behavior in the built environment, more specifically on informal settlements, urbanism, and the physical dimensions of contentious politics. He has presented his research at international conferences in the USA, Turkey, and Portugal.
