Biography

Eiman Graiz is a Ph.D. student in architecture at the University of Kansas. She started her doctoral studies in 2019 focusing on bio-inspired energy efficient architectural façades. She is interested in exploring Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines as a potential digital fabrication technology that can improve the energy efficiency in buildings. Also, she studies biomimicry, a field where nature can act as the source for many innovative design solutions. Her research investigates the benefits of creating different textured cladding tiles to improve the quality of the building façade. She combines both biomimicry and digital fabrication technologies hoping to improve the thermal performance of buildings while still providing a comfortable living space.
