Biography

Associate professor, Peter Hind, AIA, LEED AP, is an architect and educator with over 25 years of professional and academic experience encompassing residential, commercial, multi-family, and healthcare architecture. Hind’s research and practice is anchored in the exploration of the nexus between architectural design, public health, and resilient community development. His scholarship specifically questions the relationship between housing, healthcare environments, and human wellness, focusing on how materiality, natural lighting, ventilation, and spatial organization impact health outcomes. Through the integration of design research and pedagogy, Hind seeks to advance architectural strategies that enhance occupant well-being, foster social connectivity, and promote resilience across multiple spatial scales.

His teaching experience spans foundational design studios, design/build initiatives, and advanced graduate seminars. Hind holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and a Master of Architecture from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he served as a tenured faculty member. He furthered his academic development at the Architectural Association in London. Licensed to practice architecture in Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, and Vermont, Hind maintains active membership in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and contributes to civic design policy initiatives.

Hind will teach across the architecture curriculum as a member of the KU Institute of Health + Wellness Design.
