Accessibility and Limitations on Use

Only students enrolled in Photography courses are allowed to use the film processing, wet darkroom facilities, film scanning room, and lighting studio. Equipment check-out is available for all Arc/D students, faculty, and staff. Please note that there are limitations on the types of photo equipment that can be checked out by students who are not Photo Media majors.

Hours

Monday - Thursday 9am – 9pm

Friday 10am - 2pm

Sunday 12 - 9pm

After-hours access is available for Photography majors and minors. To receive after-hours access, students must complete a training with the lab technician as well as have the necessary course pre-requisites.

Services Available

The photography lab offers full darkroom facilities for black and white silver gelatin printing, as well as wet lab spaces for processing both B&W and color film. Additionally, the lab offers an alternative process darkroom and coating room, a fully equipped lighting studio, and film scanning space.

Appointment Required

No appointment is required during Open Lab Hours to use the film processing and darkroom facilities. Students have the option to reserve time in the Lighting Studio, Scanning Room, and Photo Digital Printing Lab.

Training Required

Yes, some advanced equipment requires training or a course prerequisite to check-out. To reserve time in the lighting studio or film scanning room, training or course prerequisites are required.

Rules on Usage

Rules and policies are posted throughout the studios. Equipment check-out requires signature of an agreement that covers responsibility, liability and check-out duration. Equipment can be checked out for 7 days at a time.
