Corridor Gallery exhibition 'HOME: photography by Jennifer Wetzel and Deanna Dikeman'
HOME: photography by Jennifer Wetzel and Deanna Dikeman
The exhibition features collections of photographs taken in two very different homes. One, an apartment on Armour Boulevard, the center of old Kansas City, once home to the city’s elite now home to its young hyper-urban professionals. The other a ranch-style house in Sioux City, a city on the northwest edge of Iowa whose motto is "Successful, Surprising, Sioux City'' The photographs also came about differently, one set taken in a day the others taken over many years.
Both sets of photographs fix for us, the viewer, something that we haven’t seen directly but in translation. The pictures connect us with the lives of the subjects of these photographs and with the lives of the photographers. Giving us a record as common as a snapshot as rare as a family album.

The Corridor Gallery's informal placement outside of the Photography program's studios belies the striking quality of the photography exhibited. Curated by Professor of Practice Mike Sinclair, the exhibitions consistently create little moments of pause that beg further consideration. It is a true hidden gem at The University of Kansas.
