Studio Spotlight: Interior Architecture students use virtual reality to assess designs

Third-year Interior Architecture students developed an ambitious project to design a child development center (CDC) catering to toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and first- and second-graders.

Fall Interior Architecture (IA) studio reviews were a culmination of weeks of research, problem-solving, and hands-on construction. Throughout the semester, students used analog and digital tools to design, analyze, and visualize high-performance interior environments.

KU architecture class partners with Lawrence elementary school to construct shade structure

Third-year KU Designbuild students designed and fabricated an 800-square-foot pavilion and companion rain garden with native plantings at the first fully-accessible playground in Kansas. A grand opening event will take place on Dec. 15 in Lawrence.

Grace Worden, a senior photography student minoring in environmental studies, traveled the state with the Kansas Abroad program to learn how individuals, businesses, and communities are bringing together rural economic development and environmental stewardship.

Design Competition: Using AI to Design Healthy Spaces

The KU Institute of Health + Wellness Design is sponsoring a design competition open to students in all School of Architecture & Design academic programs. Cash prizes of $1,000, $500 and $300 will be awarded to the three top entries. Deadline: January 24, 2024.

Design lecturer works with KU Libraries to analyze and enhance design course

Visual Communication Design lecturer Sam Yates Meier collaborated with a team of KU librarians to redesign a history of design course and develop new opportunities for student engagement regardless of class size.
