From rising stars to industry icons, the KU Architecture & Design Alumni Awards recognize the contributions and achievements of Jayhawk designers, architects, and creative leaders. Submission deadline is Friday, August 25, 2023

Five University of Kansas Department of Architecture students have received the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study or intern abroad.

Azure Magazine honored architecture professor Keith Van de Riet’s digitally fabricated Mangrove Reef Wall project with an Environmental Leadership Award. Azure readers also selected the project for a People’s Choice Award.

Compiled and edited by former architecture professor Dennis Domer and designed by design chairperson Tim Hossler, the new book includes chapters on anti-slavery efforts and other local battles for freedom and equality that had yet to be fully explored.

Designed and built by architecture students, the Pollinator Pavilion welcomes pollinators and people to a little piece of prairie at the Kansas Children's Discovery Center in our state's capital.

In a third-year designbuild studio – led by professor Kurt Hong and practitioners Matthew Hufft and Josh Ogren of the design and fabrication studio, Hufft – students learned to apply parametric design to repurpose materials otherwise destined for the landfill. 

The global design, architecture, engineering and planning firm, HOK, has named KU architecture student Sarah Montes as one of ten recipients of a 2023 Diversity x Design scholarship.

University of Kansas architecture students in Nils Gore’s third-year Designbuild studio have helped to transform marina facilities at Clinton Lake. The public is invited to a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday, June 6, 4–6 p.m. at Clinton Lake Marina.
